Tenth European Multigrid conference (EMG2010) was very successful
September 27th, 2010
The 10th EMG conference, co-sponsored by DCSE, organised by Alfio Borzi and Kees Oosterlee, was held in Ischia, Italy from 19 to 23 September.
The conference provides a forum for reseachers to present and discuss recent research on the development, theory, and application of multigrid, multilevel, and multiscale methodologies.
Ninety researchers participated. Important improvements have been communicated on Algebraic Multigrid for fluid-structure interaction, efficient multigrid for discontinuous Galerkin CFD discretizations, multigrid for PDEs with stochastic coefficients, but also on theory for AMG.
The next EMG conference will be held in two years in Germany.
Springer Verlag visits DCSE
On Thursday April 1, 2010, Martin Peters from Springer Verlag visits the DCSE to explain what are the possibilities to publish a book with a topic on Computational Science and Engineering. It appears that it is not only possible to publish research books, but also books related to conferences, text books and tutorials on this subject. For more information you can consult his presentation.
NWO grant for 'Little Green Machine'
March 01, 2010 by M&C
Through Kees Oosterlee (CWI) and Kees Vuik, Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics (DIAM) is involved in the realisation of a revolutionary supercomputer, the 'Little Green Machine'. The name is a whimsical reference to the LGM-1 radio pulsar, discovered by Jocelyn Bell Burnell in 1967. The 'Little Green Machine' will be smaller and more energy-efficient than any other supercomputer in the Netherlands, and it will have astronomical computing power. NWO gave a grant of 110,000 euros for the 'Little Green Machine' project.
